Ancient tradition said that Themistocles, wishing to strengthen the men’s militancy on their way to Salamis, showed them two roosters fighting with stubbornness. Since then alektryonon agones (cock fights) were performed every year in the Dionysos theater where the throne of the priest of Dionysos was decorated with two fighting roosters. The gallery talk ‘The rooster at the Museum’ is taking place on the occasion of International Museum Day 2013.
